Wild and blousy meadow flowers for Iona & Rahul at St Ebbe’s and Branca, Oxford

“We had absolute faith in Natalie that everything would be beautifully prepared and delivered... and it was!”

With a loose, natural brief and a quick turnaround needed, creating Iona and Rahul’s wild and colourful wedding flowers was a real joy from start to finish. Using pale blue delphinium for blousy texture alongside pops of colour and delicate foliage, I created a cohesive but casual look.

The Covid pandemic caused issues with Iona and Rahul’s original wedding flower booking, meaning they had to rebook with someone else. Luckily for all of us, this wonderfully happy and vibrant couple chose Blossom Co Floral Design to make their wedding flower dreams come to life.

Iona and Rahul came to me with only 2 weeks until their big day, wanting a natural and wild look to their flowers, with a bright and colourful theme running throughout. The couple wanted to incorporate shades of blue, pink, yellow and orange into their wedding flowers, and Iona really loved the look of poppies and sweet peas.

Using Pipley Flowers, a grower local to Bristol in Chewton Keynsham, I was able to source a wide variety of English blooms, including soft pink sweet peas, poppies, cornflowers, sky blue delphinium and geum. I delicately decorated St Ebbe’s Church with a handful of these blousy floral arrangements, adding a subtle personal touch to the beautiful traditional wedding venue.

The meadow-like floral theme continued through to the reception at Branca, a much-loved Mediterranean inspired restaurant with elegant private function rooms, perfect for a wedding reception in Oxford.

I placed small vases of flowers on each and every stair on the way down to the venue, as well as upon the tables. Iona's great grandmother's vintage vase was also filled with flowers, and placed alongside the wedding cake.

“Natalie instantly understood, and was so accommodating in helping us to achieve the look we were hoping for - a casual, English country garden look -using a mood board to bring our colour ideas and flower varieties to life in the design phase.”

For Iona and Rahul’s big day, I produced a blousy bridal bouquet, as well as 3 bridesmaids’ bouquets, 11 buttonholes for the groom, groomsmen and other important guests, 3 delicate floral arrangements for the church, and 36 vases for the reception.

The overall look was both wild and cohesive, tying together the two venues with natural and colourful wedding flower choices, while taking into account the couple’s personal preferences.

“In the run up to and on the day itself, Natalie's professionalism and seamless efficiency was so appreciated. She did such a beautiful job with our wedding flowers, and we were so grateful!”
